Biography: Dr. Anish Gupta
Dr. Anish Gupta, M.D., Ph.D. in Acupuncture, is a globally recognized acupuncturist and healthcare pioneer. With over three decades of experience, he has revolutionized the field of acupuncture and integrative medicine.
Early Career and Education
Dr. Gupta earned his M.D. in Acupuncture in 1991, initiating his practice in Rohini, New Delhi. In 1996, he relocated to Kota, Rajasthan, where he established a flourishing acupuncture practice that has since become a beacon of holistic healing.
He further advanced his expertise with a Ph.D. in Acupuncture in 2007. Additionally, he pursued an advanced course in Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Moxibustion from MEDBOO Health Centre at the University of Beijing, China, in 2008. A specialist in Functional Electrical Acupuncture (FEA), he received his certification from the UK and completed a certificate course in Weight Management and Lifestyle Medicine at Harvard Medical School, USA.
Prestigious Positions and Achievements
Dr. Gupta is the Director-Principal of the Indian Institute of Acupuncture Research & Allied Sciences, a study center for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), offering a Postgraduate Diploma in Acupuncture. He is also the National President of the Acupuncture Science Association (ASA) of India, actively advocating for the recognition and advancement of acupuncture in the country.
In 2023, Dr. Gupta was appointed as a Visiting Professor at Peking Union Medical College, China’s most reputed medical college, and as an Honorary Professor at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Centre (CBIATC), the world’s foremost institution for acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.

Dr. Gupta’s contributions to healthcare have been celebrated with numerous accolades. He was awarded a Gold Medal by the Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and the Health Excellence Award by the Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

Dr. Gupta has treated over 80,000 cases of asthma and allergic rhinitis using catgut embedding acupuncture, a therapy in which his groundbreaking research has been featured in the prestigious World Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. He has also achieved promising results in over 300 cases of deafness treated with laser acupuncture.
